Terms and Conditions (MUST READ)

The purpose of these terms and conditions are not to scare you with so many clauses. Allow me to explain why.

1. This is my full time job. Hence, I need to make sure students turn up for lessons. Any miss in attendance will result in loss of income for me.

2. I had students not turn up for lessons without valid reasons. If you were in my shoes, how would you feel?

3. I need your firm commitment for lessons as I am committed to you. This is to ensure a systematic approach to your progress. Learning guitar only requires 1 hr a week.

4. Learning an instrument takes more than just passion or interest. It is hard work, discipline and commitment on a daily basis. There are no shortcuts to success.

5. Please read this page carefully and clarify any doubts immediately. Let's make our learning journey a rewarding and fruitful one. Thank you!


Payment and Refund Policy


1. Payment shall be made during the first lesson of the program using the following methods below:


a) You can PayNow to my number "9755 8432". Please notify me of the transfer for verification.

b) For cash payment, you can pass it to me when you come for lesson.

c) For cheque, please CROSS and make it payable to "CHEN GUANRONG".

d) For bank transfer, please send me a request for my bank account details.


Kindly refer to "Guitar Programs and Rates" page for program fees. An official receipt will be issued to you for proper documentation.


2. Program fees shall not be refunded due to withdrawal. Exceptions will only be granted on a case by case basis. Guitarworks will take into consideration if a genuine reason is provided or due to an emergency. Please be assured we will exercise sound judgement with fairness and good conscience.


3. In any event we are unable to fulfill your lessons due to any reason, we will provide full refund based on the outstanding number of lessons remaining. No questions asked.


4. Guitarworks reserves the right to amend program fees when needed. We take full responsibility to ensure students are well informed beforehand prior to the amendment. It will also be reflected on our website with an effective date indicated.


Conduct Matters


5. Minimum Commitment Period

a) The minimum commitment period for any program signed up is 10 weeks.

b) No refund will be given for terminating any program within the 10 weeks.

c) Exceptions to Clause 5(b) will only be granted on a case by case basis. Guitarworks will take into consideration if a genuine reason is provided or due to an emergency. Please be assured we will exercise sound judgement with fairness and good conscience.


6. Lesson Conduct

a) For cancellation of a scheduled lesson, student must notify Guitarworks at least 24 hours prior to its commencement. A valid reason must be provided. Student has responsibility to reschedule the lesson to another day and time within the week upon agreement by both parties.

b) Failure to do so, student shall be marked as "PRESENT" for the lesson.

c) Exceptions to Clause 6(b) will only be granted on a case by case basis. Guitarworks will take into consideration if a genuine reason is provided or due to an emergency. Please be assured we will exercise sound judgement with fairness and good conscience.

d) Within the 10 weeks lesson program, you are required to be PRESENT AT ALL TIMES.

e) Exceptions to Clause 6(d) will only be granted on a case by case basis. Guitarworks will take into consideration if a genuine reason is provided or due to an emergency. Please be assured we will exercise sound judgement with fairness and good conscience.


7. Maximum Duration Between Lessons

a) The maximum allowable duration in between lessons shall be 7 days (inclusive of Saturdays and Sundays) during a lesson term of 10 weeks.

b) Failure to turn up for a subsequent lesson within 7 days (inclusive of Saturdays and Sundays) after the last attendance shall result in being marked as "PRESENT" for the lesson.

c) Exceptions to Clause 7(b) will only be granted on a case by case basis. Guitarworks will take into consideration if a genuine reason is provided or due to an emergency. Please be assured we will exercise sound judgement with fairness and good conscience.

d) Guitarworks reserves the right to forfeit your lesson if the reason given is considered to be invalid.


8. Travel Plans (Work/Holidays) During Commencement Of Lessons

a) Students with prior travel plans have the responsibility to notify Guitarworks before program commencement. This is to allow Guitarworks time to make necessary arrangements for the vacant slot.

b) Failure to do so, student shall be marked as "PRESENT" for the lesson.

c) Travel plans exceeding 14 days (inclusive of Saturdays and Sundays) is NOT ALLOWED DURING the program. 

d) Exceptions to Clause 8(c) will only be granted on a case by case basis. Guitarworks will take into consideration if a genuine reason is provided or due to an emergency. Please be assured we will exercise sound judgement with fairness and good conscience.


9. Inactivity During Commencement Of Lessons (Missing In Action)

a) Failure to attend a lesson over a period 14 consecutive days (inclusive of Saturdays and Sundays) will result in the program being terminated. In simple terms, missing in action. No refund will be given.

b) Exceptions to Clause 9(a) will only be granted on a case by case basis. Guitarworks will take into consideration if a genuine reason is provided or due to an emergency. Please be assured we will exercise sound judgement with fairness and good conscience.


10. Program Continuation

a) Towards the end of each program, Guitarworks will give recommendation whether to extend the current program or progress on to the next level.

b) Our assessment will be fair, honest and truthful.

c) If your learning pace is slower, we may suggest you to extend the current program in order to finish the syllabus. We will only do this in your best interest.

d) Each extension of existing program or progression to the next level will be another set of 10 lessons. Discretionary criteria can be considered. Kindly discuss with us.


11. Stopping Lessons

a) If you wish to stop lessons towards the end of any program, please let us know 1 month in advance. This will help us make preparations for new incoming students.

b) Sometimes it is alright to lose interest with an instrument due to any reason. We are only human and we change as the seasons/needs in our lives change. If you are no longer happy learning guitar, let us know. We will not hold you back from pursuing what you want.

c) Whatever decisions you make for the future, pursue happiness without any compromises. You can never go wrong.


12. Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) Consent

a)  I have installed a CCTV camera in my room for security and protection purposes. It serves as a safeguard for both parties. As such I would require your consent due to PDPA as required by the government.


13. Amendments to Terms and Conditions

a) Guitarworks reserves the right to amend its "Terms and Conditions" anytime. Please check this page regularly for the latest updates.
